As Star Academy is the introduction into the sport of figure – proper figure skates are required (hockey skates and “plastic” skates are no longer permitted). Skaters are also now expected to wear the proper attire to help create a safer environment for themselves and others around them. For more information follow our “Equipment Info.” page.
Star Academy
Star Academy is our introduction program into the sport of figure skating. Here skaters will work to complete CanSkate stages 5 and 6. Classes are 45 minutes in length and will be ran by an NCCP certified coach or by 1-2 of our Sr. PA’s. Sessions are run in a group format with some individual time, skaters are expected to be working the entire session.
Pre-Requisites
- Completed CanSkate level 4
- Helmets required until the full completion of CanSkate level 5 (via the assessment of the head coach)
- Skaters are now required to have proper figure skates
- A good learning and listening attitude
What’s Next
Once all of CanSkate stage 6 has been completed (via the assessment of the head coach) skaters will move onto our Jr. StarSkate program.
