MULTI-SESSION DISCOUNTS
This season the Sun Bowl Skating Club is offering flexibility in the registration of its programs. Skaters will now have the option of registering for one, two or three days per week depending on their level of skating and for which program they register. For progressive development we encourage skaters to take advantage of our multi-sessions discounts. Register the same skater in two sessions per week and receive a 5% discount. Register a STAR Academy or STARSkate skater in all three sessions per week and receive a 10% discount! Discounts are applied to the registration invoice at check-out.

SKATE CANADA MEMBERSHIP FEE
All skaters are required to purchase a non-refundable Skate Canada Membership at a cost of $58.65 in addition to the program fees. This fee covers insurance, membership with the National Body, Safe Sport initiatives and more. This is an annual fee that covers skaters from September 1st to August 31 of the following year and is added to the first registration invoice only for that fiscal year.

COSTUME FEE
All skaters are required to pay an annual costume fee. This allows us to maintain our inventory for presentation of the annual Year-End Ice Show. This amount will be added to the registration invoice for each skater.

  • CanSkate, Pre-CanSkate – $20 (Winter registration only)
  • STAR Academy, Junior, Intermediate and Senior STARSkate – $70

ICE SHOW

Save the date! All skaters participate in our year end ice show on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

PRE-CANSKATE is recommended for children aged 3-5 years. Skaters are taught to stand up on their own and move about the ice. The emphasis is on having fun and making that first skating experience a very positive one. Parents are not allowed on the ice with their children; parents can enjoy watching their children learn to skate by viewing from the stands in the arena. CSA approved helmets are mandatory.

Four sessions offered:

  • Fall Tuesdays (15 Sessions) Sep 10 – Dec 17, 3:30 – 4:00 pm
  • Fall Thursdays (15 Sessions) Sep 12 – Dec 19, 3:30 – 4:00 pm
  • Winter Tuesdays (10 Sessions) Jan 7 – Mar 11, 3:30 – 4:00 pm
  • Winter Thursdays (9 Sessions) Jan 9 – Mar 6, 3:30 – 4:00 pm

CANSKATE is Canada’s #1 learn to skate program designed for children and beginner skaters age 5 and up. The program focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. Canskate lessons are presented in group lesson format with assistance from PA’s (Program Assistants). CSA approved helmets are mandatory.

Four sessions offered:

  • Fall Tuesdays (15 Sessions) Sep 10 – Dec 17, 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • Fall Thursdays (15 Sessions) Sep 12 – Dec 19, 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • Winter Tuesdays (10 Sessions) Jan 1 – Mar 11, 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • Winter Thursdays (9 Sessions) Jan 9 – Mar 6, 4:00 – 4:45 pm

STAR ACADEMY introduces skaters to the fundamentals of figure skating and is a ‘bridge’ from CanSkate to STARSkate. Skaters are introduced to jumps, spins, dance and skills. Lessons are presented in group format. CSA approved helmets are mandatory thru CanSkate Stage 5. Pre-requisite: Skaters must have completed CanSkate Stage 4.

Three sessions offered per week:

  • Mondays (21 Sessions) Sep 9 – Mar 21, 3:30 – 4:00 pm
  • Tuesdays (25 Sessions) Sep 10 – Mar 11, 4:45 – 5:15 pm
  • Thursdays (24 Sessions) Sep 12- Mar 6, 4:45 – 5:15 pm

STARSKATE (and AdultSKATE) offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to further develop figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating and to be eligible to compete at various competitions. Although skaters will participate in a 15 minute group lesson each day, the balance of this program is taught in private/semi-private lesson format. Lessons are arranged by the parent directly with the coach (cost of which is not included in the registration fee). Parents are billed directly by the coach for private/semi-private lessons.
